'GNR' (Great Norther Railway) Block of 12

The above block shows that each strike of the die 'GNR' appears in the same position within the stamp, hinting that they were all struck at the same time i.e. the perfin head consisted of a large number of dies.

This is confirmed by examination of the individual stamps. There is no duplication of any of the missing pin varieties (indicated by a white dot) and thus we can confirm that the perfin head must have consisted of at least 3 rows of 4 columns.
