As with any issue of stamps, constant flaws can be found but to me these are of only minor interest.

However one type of major variety is the "no cross on crown" which occurs quite frequently on many plates and on both the ½d (die 2) and 1d (dies 1a, 1b and 2) values. Various in-between states exist in which the crown is partially missing but these do not qualify as the "no cross" variety.
